Kirtan for Clarity & Courage at The Interdependence Project

  • The Interdependence Project 28 W 27th St #704 New York, NY 10001 United States (map)

The work of bringing our practice to the world requires that we take time to be present in community together. Join us for a special “kirtan” or group chanting, designed to help everyone discover your brave and peaceful hearts and minds. Singing has always been a natural conduit for storytelling and prayer. Every culture carries its unique flavor and tradition. Kirtan hails from the temples and hearts of India, where it has been practiced for thousands of years. This style of singing is rooted in call and response chanting of sanskrit mantras and devotional songs. At its simplest form, it is considered to be a practice and pathway of self discovery, and a form of yoga/meditation. Each repetition of the mantra is a way to gather our awareness and concentration and to be fully present in the moment. Now more than ever, this ancient practice offers a gentle pathway to clarity and courage during complicated times that call for right action.

Please email caitlin@theidproject.org to RSVP so we can prepare properly.  We're offering this event on a donation basis, and request each participant to contribute $20. 100% of our income comes from individual members and students.  Your generosity allows us to meet our operational costs and continue to offer need-based scholarships. No one with financial difficulties will be turned away.
